Test rules and how to send your score

CityU says scores for tests taken outside the university must be authenticated by the test publisher, so have Pearson send or verify your result. The page says English placement test scores are valid for 24 months. It does not mention PTE Academic Online, PTE Core or a Pearson institution code.

In the same chart, IELTS is band 6.0 for undergraduate and language-assisted graduate study and band 6.5 for graduate and doctoral programs, beside PTE 51 and 59.

If you fall short

CityU runs its own English Language Program and places students with the iTEP Plus exam. Language-assisted graduate programs exist alongside non-assisted ones, and completing the right ELP level (Level 6 for undergraduate and language-assisted graduate programs, Level 8 for non-assisted graduate programs) also meets the requirement.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your CityU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
