Other tests and waivers
GBS Malta also accepts the Cambridge Test of English at 169 and Trinity ISE II at Merit. On its master's pages it says applicants who have studied in a majority English-speaking country are exempt from submitting a test score.
Note that PTE minimums differ by skill: speaking 42 and listening 43 are lower than writing 51 and reading 48.

English courses at GBS
GBS HE Malta offers English language courses for applicants who do not yet meet the standard, typically within three months, and has a free online English level test on its site.
Requirements vary by programme and change between intakes. The score that binds you is the one on your GBS Malta programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where GBS Malta publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
