How Georgetown handles TOEFL scores

Graduate scores must be sent directly by the testing agency and received by the application deadline, and applications are not considered without them unless you qualify through an English-medium degree. Georgetown does not accept MyBest scores, will not review unofficial reports uploaded to the application, and uses code 5244 for both the TOEFL and the GRE.

For undergraduates, Georgetown accepts the TOEFL in its PBT, iBT and "IPT Plus" versions, as the page lists them, along with the DET and IELTS.

For comparison, the graduate page sets IELTS at 7.0 or 7.5, depending on the programme.

If your TOEFL score is below Georgetown's level

The graduate page offers no conditional or pathway admission tied to English. It notes that, occasionally, an applicant who does not meet the admission criteria may be admitted at a school's discretion as a Special Student, which is not a degree place and lasts no more than a single semester.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Georgetown programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
