Exemptions, and the Management exception
Most programmes exempt native speakers and holders of a degree taught fully in English, with a medium of instruction attestation. That covers many English-medium graduates from India, Pakistan and Nigeria.
The Master of Management is stricter. You are exempt only if you are a national of, or hold an on-campus degree from, Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the US, or if you have an English-taught degree and submit a valid GMAT score. Management also needs GMAT Focus 515 or GRE 310 (150 quantitative) unless you have 6 ECTS of quantitative data analysis from a qualifying institution.

Deadlines, fees and how to check
Applications for 2027-2028 open on 15 November. Non-EEA deadlines are 1 March for Biomedical Sciences, 15 March for Interior Architecture, 1 April for Management, Statistics and Data Science and Energy Engineering Technology, and 1 May for Transportation Sciences on campus. The non-EEA tuition fee for Energy Engineering Technology in 2026-27 is EUR 9,493.90.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UHasselt programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Hasselt University (UHasselt) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
