HPU English requirements

Routes without a test
You also meet the requirement by completing the INTERLINK Intensive English Program, completing ELS Level 112 at an ELS Language Center, or attending an accredited US high school for two consecutive years and graduating from it.

ESL placement after admission
Meeting the minimum is not the end of it. All non-native English speakers take an ESL placement exam once admitted. The result decides whether you take between 0 and 16 credit hours of ESL classes in your first two semesters. Those classes count towards the foreign language part of the General Education requirements.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admission cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your HPU programme page and in your admission letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where High Point University publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
