What TOEFL score do you need for Hong Kong Baptist University?

For undergraduates, from 2027 entry the test must be taken within two years before the start of the academic year; for 2027 entry that means on or after 1 September 2025. For taught postgraduates, the result must be within two years of the date the admission offer letter is issued.

TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. The page above gives only 0 to 120 figures, so that is what this guide reports.

On the same pages, HKBU asks IELTS Academic 6.0 overall for bachelor's entry and 6.5 overall for taught postgraduate entry.

Taught postgraduate applicants can instead hold a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution where English is the medium of instruction. Programme-specific rules can set higher levels. The pages read do not describe a pre-sessional route.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your HKBU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
