What IELTS score do you need for the Manitoba PNP (MPNP)?

Manitoba's policy lists IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General and PTE Core for English and TEF Canada and TCF Canada for French. Everyone except applicants currently working in Manitoba in a TEER 0 to 3 job must submit official results from a test taken no more than two years before they submit the MPNP Online application.

Skilled Worker Overseas scores language out of 25: CLB 8 or higher 20 points, CLB 7 18, CLB 6 16, CLB 5 14, CLB 4 12 and CLB 3 or lower 0, plus 5 for CLB 5 or higher in a second official language.

Manitoba said on 11 June 2026 that it is changing how graduates are selected: candidates with active Career Employment Pathway profiles and at least six months of Manitoba work experience are invited to move into Skilled Worker in Manitoba, while the Graduate Internship Pathway stays (MPNP).

Manitoba invites candidates from its expression-of-interest pool. In draw #281 (8 October 2026) it issued 340 Letters of Advice to Apply, 103 of them to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code. It also says profiles were skipped when a declared language test had no valid test number or had expired. Under the Comprehensive Ranking System, a provincial or territorial nomination is worth 600 points. To be nominated through Express Entry you must also qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades or Canadian Experience Class programme (IRCC), whose minimums are CLB 7 (FSW), CLB 7 or 5 by TEER (CEC) and CLB 5 speaking and listening with CLB 4 reading and writing (FST) (IRCC). IRCC's provincial nominee language page (modified 23 June 2026) lists IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General and PTE Core for English, plus TEF Canada and TCF Canada for French, and its equivalency charts say results must not be more than 2 years old when IRCC receives your application. For Express Entry, IRCC says you must take the IELTS General Training option and does not accept IELTS One Skill Retake (IRCC); IELTS Academic is not on any IRCC economic-immigration list.
