What IELTS score do you need for the Saskatchewan PNP (SINP)?

Saskatchewan's Employment Offer and Occupations In-Demand categories and the Agriculture Talent Pathway need CLB 4. The Health and Tech Talent pathways need CLB 5 outside Express Entry, and Health Talent through Express Entry needs CLB 7. Saskatchewan Express Entry uses the federal minimum. Who must test, and which tests count

The SINP language page says native speakers who are citizens or permanent residents of an English- or French-speaking country do not need a test unless they apply through Express Entry, and that a regulated occupation may need more. Tests must come from a designated agency and be less than 2 years old at the time of your SINP application.

Its CLB 4 table lists IELTS (listening 4.5, reading 3.5, writing 4, speaking 4), PTE Core (28–38, 33–41, 41–50, 42–50), CELPIP-General (4 in each), TEF Canada and TCF Canada. That table just says "IELTS", but the Saskatchewan Express Entry page names IELTS General Training and IRCC accepts only General Training, so book that version. The SINP page mentions IELTS Academic only in a list of tests that health regulators may use.

Saskatchewan Express Entry and the 600 CRS points

For Saskatchewan Express Entry you must be in IRCC's Express Entry pool and submit valid results that match the level in your profile, are no more than two years old at application, and come from IELTS General Training, CELPIP, PTE Core, TEF or TCF Canada. Claiming bilingual points needs CLB 4 or higher in the second language. Under the Comprehensive Ranking System, a provincial or territorial nomination is worth 600 points. To be nominated through Express Entry you must also qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades or Canadian Experience Class programme (IRCC), whose minimums are CLB 7 (FSW), CLB 7 or 5 by TEER (CEC) and CLB 5 speaking and listening with CLB 4 reading and writing (FST) (IRCC). See our Express Entry guide.

IRCC's provincial nominee language page (modified 23 June 2026) lists IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General and PTE Core for English, plus TEF Canada and TCF Canada for French, and its equivalency charts say results must not be more than 2 years old when IRCC receives your application. For Express Entry, IRCC says you must take the IELTS General Training option and does not accept IELTS One Skill Retake (IRCC); IELTS Academic is not on any IRCC economic-immigration list.

Provincial programmes change often, sometimes with no notice. Confirm the current rule on the SINP language requirements page before you book a test or submit an expression of interest. This guide is general information, not legal or immigration advice.
