Exemptions
For CoDaS, native speakers and holders of an English-taught degree are exempt, and an interview can replace a certificate. Duolingo and PTE are not listed for degree applicants.

Application calls and fees
For 2026/27 Técnico ran calls from 2 January to 6 February, 6 April to 22 May, 6 to 17 July and 14 to 17 September 2026. Tuition for international students is €7,000 a year, with a €2,000 vacancy reservation (€1,000 for Territorial Management and Urban Studies).
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Técnico programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Instituto Superior Técnico (Técnico Lisboa), University of Lisbon publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
