Band 5 on the CEFR

ielts.org's CEFR page says IELTS bands never aligned exactly with CEFR transition points, and gives band 5 as its example of a borderline score where it is not clear whether the level is B1 or B2. Its chart places 4.0 to 5.0 alongside B1 and 5.5 to 6.5 alongside B2.

So an organisation that asks for B2 is likely to want at least 5.5 overall, and many set a minimum in each skill too. Details in CEFR to IELTS.
