What IELTS score do you need for Johnson & Wales University?

Both levels accept Cambridge C1 Advanced at 180 or higher, LanguageCert at CEFR C1 and Eiken Grade 1. Undergraduates can also use SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing of 500, a grade 4 or C in GCSE, IGCSE or O Level English, IB English at grade 4, or WAEC English at grade 6 or better.

Graduate applicants who completed an accredited university programme in Nigeria or Ghana, at a level acceptable for graduate admission, can use that instead. Applicants with transcripts from listed majority English-speaking countries may not need scores, though JWU may still ask for proof.

JWU may exempt you from individual ESL classes based on section scores, or require ESL in a specific area whatever your total. ESL courses run only at the Providence campus.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admission cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your JWU programme page and in your admission letter, so check it there before you book a test.
