From the international admissions page.
| Level or programme | TOEFL iBT minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate | 69 overall | At least 17.25 in each section |
| Graduate | 69 overall | At least 17.25 in each section |

How Mercyhurst handles TOEFL scores
Mercyhurst sets a per-section floor as well as an overall score, and accepts TOEFL Essentials. Proof of English proficiency is one of the documents applicants submit at both levels. The page does not give a TOEFL institution code or validity period.
For comparison, the same page sets IELTS at 5.8 overall with 5.8 in each section, at both levels.
TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. Where a page above gives only a 0 to 120 figure, that is the figure this guide reports.

The page also accepts Duolingo 100 overall and in each section, or PTE 53. It does not describe a conditional English route.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Mercyhurst programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
