Sending scores and the IELTS comparison
The undergraduate page says scores must be from within two years of the intended date of enrolment, and that Duolingo scores are shared with institutions directly from the Duolingo website.
The Graduate School FAQ says it does not accept Duolingo for graduate admission, that scores below its minimums will not be reviewed, and that it does not offer provisional or conditional admission for missing English scores.
Compared with IELTS: undergraduates need IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in speaking and writing, or Duolingo 120.

If you fall short
The undergraduate page says Michigan Tech does not currently offer an ESL programme. Applicants from certain countries, or who studied in a US high school or college, may be exempt from the test.
