How Missouri State handles TOEFL scores

Scores must come from the same testing session on a single test report. You upload your proof of English to the application portal and also send official scores through the testing portal to school code 6665. The university policy sets a minimum of CEFR B2 for undergraduate study and B2+ for graduate study.

For comparison, the same pages set IELTS at 5.5 for undergraduates and 6.0 for graduates.

TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. Where a page above gives only a 0 to 120 figure, that is the figure this guide reports.

If your TOEFL score is below Missouri State's level

The high B1 route lets undergraduates with TOEFL iBT 42 to 60 enrol in full, provided they meet every other admission requirement and take the prescribed English courses in their first semester. Applicants from an accredited English-medium secondary or post-secondary institution may be exempt at the discretion of the Office of International Services.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Missouri State programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
