What Duolingo score do you need for Nagoya University?

Nagoya University accepts a Duolingo English Test score of 110 and above for its Global 30 (G30) English-taught undergraduate programmes. How Nagoya handles Duolingo scores

For the primary document screening you may upload a PDF copy of your score through the online application system. Applicants who progress to the secondary screening (interviews) must arrange for the official score report to be sent directly by the testing institution. The Duolingo institution name to use is "Nagoya University Undergraduate Admissions". If the official report does not arrive by the deadline, you can upload a soft copy or screenshot of it in the Online Admissions System.

Applicants who completed three or more consecutive years of secondary education, including the final year, with English as the main language of instruction are exempt from a test, but must provide a signed and stamped school statement confirming it.

For comparison, Appendix 1 sets IELTS Academic at an overall band of 6.0 (One Skill Retake accepted) and TOEFL iBT at 80, or 4.0 on the scoring system used from January 2026.

If your Duolingo score is below 110

The pages list no conditional admission or English course for applicants below the minimum. If you hold a different English certificate that you think is equivalent, Appendix 1 asks you to email the Admissions Office for the International Programs at least one month before the first day of the application period.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Nagoya University programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
