NC State Duolingo minimums by level

Subscores, sending and IELTS comparison
The graduate handbook sets both a total and subscores, so a 110 total with one subscore below 110 does not meet it. For undergraduates, Duolingo scores must be sent electronically: log in at englishtest.duolingo.com, choose the score under "Tests Taken", select "Send to an Institution", pick North Carolina State University and share it.
IELTS comparison: the graduate handbook asks for IELTS Academic 6.5 with 6.5 in each section (7.0 Speaking for TA roles), and the undergraduate page asks for 6.5 with at least 6.0 in each sub-score for full admission.

If your score is lower
Undergraduates who are academically competitive but below the English minimum are considered for conditional admission through the Intensive English Program, which needs a $200 non-refundable enrolment deposit; completing its Level 6 also meets the full-admission requirement. The graduate handbook does not list a conditional Duolingo range.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your NC State programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
