How Niagara College handles Duolingo results

Duolingo certificates must be submitted with the shareable public test certificate link or as shared results within the Duolingo platform. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission, minimums can change with programme demand, and Niagara can add or remove tests at any time.

For comparison, the same page sets IELTS Academic at 6.0 with no band under 5.5 for diplomas and 6.5 with no band under 5.5 for graduate and degree programmes.

If your Duolingo score is below the minimum

Niagara's English for Academic Preparation (EAP) programme accepts Duolingo for placement, with results valid for two years. The planning chart puts 95 to 100 (no individual subscore below 90) at EAP Level 5 and 85 to 90 (none below 85) at Level 4. Completing EAP Level 5 with 70% meets the diploma level and 75% the graduate and degree level.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Niagara College programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
