Test rules and how to send your score

The undergraduate page says all test scores are valid for two years and must be sent directly to NDSU. The Graduate School requires the academic version of PTE, asks for scores to be sent electronically to North Dakota State University - Graduate, and says the test date must be within two years of your application. Neither page mentions PTE Academic Online or PTE Core.

On the same pages, IELTS is 6.0 for undergraduate and general graduate admission, so PTE 50 is the PTE route to the same level. Programmes such as Accountancy and Biochemistry list IELTS 7 without a PTE figure, so ask the department which PTE score it accepts.

If you fall short

The catalog says graduate assistants who miss the GTA minimums can qualify by completing LANG 701, LANG 702 and a Mock Teaching Exam. Neither admissions page describes a conditional admission route with a PTE entry point. Applicants from listed English-speaking countries, or with two years of study in good standing at a US school or college, are exempt.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your NDSU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
