NEIU Duolingo minimums by level
From the international students section of NEIU's catalog.
| Level or programme | Duolingo minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate | 105 | Listed with IELTS 6.0 |
| Graduate | 120 | Some programmes ask for more; see the application |
How NEIU handles Duolingo scores
Official scores must be sent to the Admissions Office. Higher programme-specific levels appear on the graduate application with other programme requirements.
You may qualify for a waiver if you completed high school or university at an English-medium school in your country. The catalog states no Duolingo validity period.
For comparison, the catalog sets IELTS at 6.0 for undergraduates and 6.5 for graduate study.

If your Duolingo score is below NEIU's level
Applicants who do not meet the minimum may be considered for International Conditional Admission with the School for the Advancement of English Language and Learning (SAELL). You can also meet the requirement by passing SAELL Level 4 with at least 80% in all core classes.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your NEIU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
