Test rules at NTU
Undergraduate English tests are required for holders of certain qualifications, including the Gao Kao, HKDSE, Taiwan GSAT and South Korea CSAT, and only scores from within two years before the application deadline are accepted. For coursework programmes, test dates must be within two years of the application date, and NTU accepts either scale during the transition depending on the test date.
Research programmes ask for "a good TOEFL/IELTS score" from applicants whose bachelor's degree was not taught in English, with no figure stated on the research admission guide.
On the undergraduate guide, IELTS Academic needs 6.5 overall with 6.5 in writing and speaking.

If your TOEFL score falls short
For coursework programmes, NTU says applicants without TOEFL or IELTS, or who do not meet the requirement, may still be considered case by case, and may be asked to take an interview or test if the school deems it necessary.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your NTU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
