English requirements for the two English-taught master's
The International Business and Management how-to-apply page lists the scores below. The Management in Nonprofit Organisations page is the DAAD Helmut Schmidt Programme page.
| Programme | Level | Scores listed |
|---|---|---|
| International Business and Management (M.A.) | C1 | IELTS 7.0; TOEFL iBT 95; TOEIC 945; CPE grade C; CAE grade B/C; BEC 3 grade A/B |
| Management in Nonprofit Organisations (M.A.) | B2 | IELTS 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5 listed as minimum scores; the page does not say which one applies to you |
Waivers, validity and dates
For International Business and Management, scores below the table are not accepted, and a Medium of Instruction certificate showing your previous degree was taught in English is not sufficient on its own. The page does not state a validity period.
The Nonprofit page says the test must not be older than three years when your master's begins. It lists exemptions such as English as a mother tongue, nationality of an English-speaking country or a bachelor's taught entirely in English. Because it lists three IELTS figures with no mapping, ask the programme which one you need.
For International Business and Management, the application page for foreign documents gives uni-assist deadlines of 1 February to 1 April for non-EU applicants and 1 March to 15 July for EU applicants for the winter semester.

How to check
The Nonprofit programme's DAAD scholarship is for applicants from Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and South and Southeast Asia, with at least two years of relevant experience. The 2028/2029 application period on the page runs from 1 June to 31 July 2027.
English requirements in Germany are set per programme and can change between intakes. The score that binds you is the one on your Hochschule Osnabrück programme page and in your admission letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Hochschule Osnabrück (Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
