VŠE English requirement by programme
From the how-to-apply pages for the Master in Management, Master in Sustainability Management, International and Diplomatic Studies and the BBA.
| Programme | IELTS | Other proof |
|---|---|---|
| Master in Management | 6.5 | TOEFL iBT 90; CPE, CAE or BEC Higher A to C |
| Master in Sustainability Management | 6.5 | TOEFL iBT 90; CPE A to C; CAE or BEC Higher A or B |
| International and Diplomatic Studies (master's) | Academic 6.0 to 6.5 | TOEFL iBT 87; Cambridge B2 First; other B2 |
| Bachelor of Business Administration | No score listed | English (min B2) assessed at interview |
When a degree replaces a test
For the Master in Management and Sustainability Management, a bachelor's from an English-speaking country, or one taught fully in English at a CEMS university or an EQUIS or AACSB accredited university, replaces a test. For International and Diplomatic Studies, any bachelor's taught in English is enough, with a notarised transcript confirming it.
So an English-medium bachelor's from an ordinary Indian or Pakistani university works for International and Diplomatic Studies but not, on its own, for the business master's. Duolingo and PTE are not listed for any of these programmes.

Fees, deadlines and how to check
The application fee is EUR 100. Master in Management applicants submit an essay of 2,500 to 3,000 words and a structured CV with a video link by 28 February or 30 April, then pay a EUR 600 blocking fee and EUR 2,400 for the rest of the first semester. International and Diplomatic Studies costs EUR 6,000 a year from September 2027, with rounds closing on 28 February and 30 April 2027. The BBA costs EUR 3,000 a semester.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your VŠE programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
