How Quinnipiac handles TOEFL scores

Graduate applicants send an official copy of the English proficiency test report with the application. The undergraduate page marks TOEFL, IELTS and Cambridge English as preferred tests. Neither page gives a TOEFL institution code or a validity period.

For comparison, both pages set IELTS at 6.5.

TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. Where a page above gives only a 0 to 120 figure, that is the figure this guide reports.

If your TOEFL score is below Quinnipiac's level

Graduate applicants can submit successful completion of ELS Level 112 in place of an English test. Undergraduates who studied entirely in English throughout secondary school may qualify for a waiver, though Quinnipiac still recommends a score; requests go to International Admissions and are decided case by case. Graduate waiver requests go to the same office.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Quinnipiac programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
