How SAIC handles TOEFL scores

SAIC is one of the few schools here that names TOEFL Essentials, with a minimum of 9 for undergraduates. Scores may be sent directly by selecting SAIC's TOEFL code, 1713, when you take the test.

Graduate applicants upload an unofficial copy of their test results to the International Requirements section of the application and send official scores to the same institution code, 1713. The graduate page gives no minimum score.

For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS at 6.5.

If your TOEFL score is below SAIC's level

Undergraduates do not need a language test if English is their first language, they attend a US-accredited high school abroad, they have studied at an English-language school for four or more years, or they have earned 12 or more semester hours at an English-language university. Graduate applicants are waived if English is their native language or their undergraduate degree is from a US-accredited or English-medium university.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your SAIC programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
