What Duolingo score do you need for San Francisco State University?

The graduate requirements page says to select San Francisco State University, Graduate Studies, as the recipient when sending Duolingo results. It warns that some graduate programmes do not accept IELTS, PTE or Duolingo in place of TOEFL.

The College of Business says its admissions department strongly recommends TOEFL, IELTS or PTE and that Duolingo should be submitted only if none of those tests is available.

For comparison, the graduate requirements page and the business page both set IELTS at an overall band of 6.5.

The Division of Graduate Studies does not offer conditional admission to students who miss the English requirement. It recommends enrolling at the American Language Institute on campus and applying for graduate study once you meet the minimum.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your SF State programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
