How Seton Hall handles Duolingo scores

Undergraduates whose native language is not English, and who have not spent three or more years in an English-speaking country, may submit TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo scores in lieu of SAT or ACT scores. The page describes the figures as what applicants should have, within a holistic review.

The business FAQ gives Duolingo as one of three options alongside TOEFL and IELTS. Neither page states a validity period or subscore rule for Duolingo.

For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS at 6.0, and the business FAQ also asks for a minimum IELTS of 6.

If your Duolingo score is below Seton Hall's level

Academically qualified undergraduates whose English is not yet strong enough, as measured by TOEFL or IELTS, may gain provisional acceptance with placement into Seton Hall's English as a Second Language programme. Students who complete it can move into regular coursework and a degree programme. Students admitted to the ESL programme pay a $250 tuition deposit before their I-20 application is reviewed.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Seton Hall programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
