What IELTS score do you need for Shanghai Jiao Tong University?

You can skip the test only if you scored SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 650+ or ACT Reading and English 27+ each, and recently completed at least four years of rigorous study in a listed country. The list includes the UK, USA (except Puerto Rico), Canada (except Quebec), Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia, but not India, Pakistan or Bangladesh. Students at American or British schools abroad may also qualify.

A China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) score with Mathematics is required; SAT, ACT, A Level, IB and other results cannot replace it. Applicants who have not yet taken it can be reviewed on other scores, but must submit CSCA results by 30 June 2027 to receive a formal admission notice.

For 2027 entry, Early Action closes on 1 November 2026 and Regular Application on 31 March 2027 (Beijing time). HSK Level 4 is a graduation requirement for all international students.
