Test rules and how to send your score
Pearson scores must come from a test taken in the last two years and be sent to SDSU directly from Pearson. The page does not mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core or a Pearson code.
IELTS Academic on the undergraduate page is 5.5 overall, so PTE 44 is the PTE route to IELTS 5.5. The graduate page asks for IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 4.0 or Duolingo 100.

If you fall short
Undergraduates can also use SAT (490 Reading and Writing) or ACT (composite 18), and citizens of listed countries are waived. Graduate applicants with a US bachelor's or graduate degree do not need a test. Neither page describes a PTE-based conditional route.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your SDSU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
