How Southern Cross handles TOEFL scores

All applicants must meet the University's English language proficiency requirement. The table lists TOEFL iBT alongside IELTS, Cambridge, PTE, ISLPR and CEFR, and the Bachelor of Speech Pathology is set at IELTS 8.0 with no band below 8.0, a level the TOEFL row does not cover. To register in midwifery, nursing, osteopathy, occupational therapy or podiatry, graduates must also meet AHPRA's English standards.

Southern Cross gives its TOEFL figures on the 0 to 120 scale. Since January 2026 TOEFL iBT score reports also carry a 1 to 6 band score; see the new TOEFL score scale.

For comparison, the same page lists the MBA, Master of Computing and Master of Professional Accounting at IELTS 6.5 overall.

Your offer and your visa are separate. Home Affairs says that for a TOEFL iBT result to be valid for Australian visa purposes you must select 'Taking TOEFL for Australia' when you register, and it lists TOEFL iBT Home Edition among the online tests it does not accept (Home Affairs English page).
