What TOEFL score do you need for Temple University Japan?

For undergraduate entry, the test must be taken no earlier than two years before you apply. TUJ stopped accepting the TOEFL iBT Home Edition from the Summer 2024 semester, does not review MyBest scores, and only accepts TOEFL ITP tests it runs itself. The MS Ed page asks for a score no more than two years old and gives TUJ's TOEFL iBT institution code as 9698.

On the undergraduate page, the IELTS Academic minimum is 6.0. The MS Ed asks for IELTS 7.0 and the LLM for 6.5 with no individual score below 6.0.

Undergraduate applicants with TOEFL iBT 53 to 78, or 3.5, may be admitted conditionally to the Bridge Program. Placement is by test score and TUJ's own placement test: Bridge 1 covers 53 to under 61, Bridge 2 covers 61 to under 71, and Bridge 3 covers 71 to under 79. You matriculate after passing Bridge 3, or earlier if a new score meets the direct-entry level. Below that, TUJ's Academic English Program is an option.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your TUJ programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
