Thammasat IELTS by programme

Rules on tests and exemptions
All four pages want scores under two years old: the BBA from the exam date, Economics and Medicine at the application deadline, and the MA up to the interview date. The Medicine page says IELTS One Skill Retake is not accepted. The MA does not accept TOEFL Essentials or ITP. Only the Economics page lists Duolingo.
For the MA, citizens of English-speaking countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA are exempt, and an English-medium instruction certificate may be accepted at the graduate school's discretion if it is within two years of graduation.

Other entry requirements
The BBA also needs an SAT score of 1,280 (taken 2023 to 2025) and an interview. Economics ran two portfolio rounds for AY2026, in December 2025 and March 2026. The MA page says details for the 2027 admission are still to come.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Thammasat programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Thammasat University publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.

What IELTS does Thammasat need?+
IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each section for the BBA, and 6.5 for international Economics, Medicine and the MA in Social Innovation and Sustainability.
Does Thammasat accept Duolingo?+
The international Economics programme accepts Duolingo 120. The BBA, Medicine and MA pages do not list it.
Does Thammasat accept IELTS One Skill Retake?+
The international Medicine programme says One Skill Retake is not accepted.
How old can my IELTS be?+
No more than two years, counted from the exam date or the application deadline depending on the programme.
