How MyBest scores work
The TOEFL iBT fee includes MyBest scores, which combine your best score for each section from all your valid TOEFL iBT scores from the last two years (Information Bulletin). Your score report shows the total and section scores from one test date, plus your MyBest section scores and their sum (ETS score FAQ).
You cannot send MyBest scores on their own. When you send scores, you send one specific test date, and the report carries your MyBest scores with it; those may come from different test dates (ETS).
| Situation | What ETS says |
|---|---|
| Which tests count | All valid TOEFL iBT tests from the last two years |
| Report for a test on the 1–6 scale | Older 0–120 section scores are converted to 1–6 in the MyBest section |
| Report for a test on the 0–120 scale | MyBest includes only scores from the 0–120 scale |
| What institutions receive | The test date you send, plus MyBest scores |
| Extra fee | None; MyBest is part of the test fee |
Old and new scale results together
Section scores moved to a 1 to 6 scale on 21 January 2026. If the report is for a test on the new scale, its MyBest section converts older 0–120 scores to 1–6; if the report is for a test on the old scale, MyBest shows only old-scale scores (ETS). See the TOEFL 1–6 score scale for how the bands line up.

Do universities accept MyBest?
ETS's answer is that each institution sets its own score requirements, so you need to confirm with each place you apply to whether it accepts MyBest scores (ETS score FAQ). Read the admissions page for your programme, not just the university's general page.
Because MyBest only draws on the last two years, an older strong section score drops out when that test passes two years (bulletin). ETS will not report or send any score older than two years (ETS). Rules and fees change. Check the test owner's own page before you book or pay. This guide is general information, not official advice from ETS or Duolingo.
