How Towson handles TOEFL scores
Every minimum comes with a subscore floor, so a strong total does not make up for one weak section. Towson's institution code for TOEFL iBT score reports is 5404.
For comparison, the same page sets IELTS at 6.0 with bands of 5.5 for undergraduates and 6.5 with bands of 6.0 for graduates.

If your TOEFL score is below Towson's level
Undergraduates can meet the requirement by completing Level 5 at the TU English Language Center (ELC); graduates need ELC Level 6 with a grade of B or better. Towson also points students who miss its English standards to the Academic Pathway to Towson University (APTU), which lets them earn college credit. Undergraduates with three years of schooling in a listed English-speaking country may be exempt.
