Test rules at UCC
Both pages accept the TOEFL iBT Home Edition. The postgraduate page says MyBest scores are accepted and gives a two-year time limit. The undergraduate page says scores must come from one sitting and that tests must be taken no more than two years before your programme starts. Non-EU applicants to the College of Medicine and Health may use TOEFL, which is one of five tests accepted there.
On the same pages, IELTS Academic is 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each band for standard undergraduate and postgraduate entry.
TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. UCC gives both scales, as shown.

If your TOEFL score falls short
The postgraduate page lists successful completion of a Pre-sessional at the UCC Language Centre as meeting the requirement, including for the higher-level MSc programmes above.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UCC programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
