What Duolingo score do you need for UCD?

Results must normally have been issued within the last two years. The page gives an example: for entry in September 2027, results must have been attained since 1 February 2025.

UCD applies a single sitting rule: the minimum for every component must be met at the same time as the overall score. For graduate applicants, a degree taken through English or in an English-speaking country may be taken as proof of proficiency at the relevant Governance Board's discretion.

For comparison, the same page asks for IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each band, and does not accept IELTS retake scores.

The page lists UCD's own English Language Pathway Programmes as accepted evidence: the UCD Pre-Sessional and Pre-Masters programmes, each with an overall grade of C+ and at least C- in all components, run by the Centre for English and Global Languages.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UCD programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
