What TOEFL score do you need for UConn?

At graduate level UConn does not accept TOEFL Essentials, TOEFL MyBest scores or TOEFL ITP results, unless the ITP scores are from UConn. Scores are valid for two years from the original test date to the submission of the UConn application, and self-reported or uploaded scores count as unofficial.

Send official graduate scores through ETS to code 3915 for UConn Storrs or 3931 for UConn Health Center.

For comparison, both the undergraduate page and the graduate page set IELTS at 6.5.

Neither page describes conditional admission. Undergraduates can be waived with English as their primary language, two or more years at a US secondary school, SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing of 510 or more, or 24 on the ACT sections listed. From spring 2027, graduate applicants are waived with English as their primary language, an English-medium degree, or a year of graded US coursework.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UConn programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
