Does a UK PGCert or PGDip prove your English for ILR or citizenship?

The guidance lists accountancy, marketing, hotel management, retail management, cosmetic science and food hygiene as examples of professional diplomas and certificates that cannot be accepted, whether from inside or outside the UK.

You still need the Life in the UK test unless exempt.

You can still meet the English part with a speaking and listening SELT at B1 or above, an academic degree taught in English, or nationality of a majority English-speaking country (Form AN guidance).

From 26 March 2027 most ILR routes need B2 instead of B1 for the test option; citizenship guidance still says B1.
