Visa English requirements

Can you get a UK Student visa if a disability exempts you from part of an English test?

Yes. Appendix English Language says a Student applicant meets the English requirement if they took an approved English test, the test provider exempted them from a component because of a disability, and their student sponsor confirms it is satisfied their English is good enough for the course. Without this rule, the Student route asks for all 4 components.

Other routes worth checking

At degree level, a higher education provider with a track record of compliance can assess your English itself under EL 8.1 and state its method on the CAS; see university waivers. Ask your sponsor early which route it will put on your CAS. Immigration rules change, sometimes at short notice. Confirm the current rule on the Appendix English Language before you book a test or apply. This guide is general information, not legal or immigration advice.
