Test rules at Bern
The checklist asks you to indicate code 3169 (University of Bern, Admissions Office) when taking the test. Maximum test age differs by programme, from six months for English to 36 months for Political, Legal and Economic Philosophy. Bern's application page says that where no certificate is explicitly required, applicants are responsible for having enough proficiency in the language of instruction.
For comparison, the same checklist asks IELTS Academic 5 for Chemistry, 6.5 for Political, Legal and Economic Philosophy, and 7 for AI in Medicine, Sociology and Communication, and English.

If your TOEFL score falls short
The checklist says an exemption from the English test is possible if you completed your studies in a language community where English is the main language, with clear evidence such as certificates and transcripts. Bern also runs English for Academic Purposes courses.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Bern programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
