TOEFL iBT fee in Switzerland
ETS's fees-by-location page lists US$475 for Switzerland; the other fees below are the same everywhere. Switzerland is not on the Bulletin's list of locations where tax is added at checkout, but ETS's fee page notes that prices may exclude VAT or other local taxes, so check the order total.
Switzerland's US$475 is US$220 above ETS's median of US$255 and US$50 above the next-highest location, Israel (US$425). Neighbours cost far less: Germany US$293, France US$294, Italy US$305 and Austria US$306.

Reschedule, cancellation and refund rules
ETS's rules are the same in every country covered here (Bulletin, pages 4–5). Reschedule or cancel through your ETS account at least 4 full days before the test: for a Saturday test, by Tuesday. Cancelling in time returns 50% of the fee you paid, to the original payment method; after that deadline nothing is refunded. Requests by post, email or at the test centre are not accepted. You can take the test as often as you like, but not more than once in any 3 days.
| What you do | Deadline | Result |

| Cancel or reschedule late | Fewer than 4 full days before | No refund |
| Miss the test | - | Marked absent, no refund or credit |
| ETS cancels the session | - | Free reschedule or full refund |

What the fee includes: score reports and reviews
The fee includes your scores in your ETS account about 3 days after the test, a PDF score report, MyBest scores and up to 4 official score reports to institutions you choose before 10 p.m. (local test-centre time) the day before the test (Bulletin, page 11). Each extra report costs US$29 on ETS's fee table; its score-sending page still says US$25, so expect the fee table's figure. A Speaking or Writing review must be requested within 30 days and not after you have sent scores anywhere.
TOEFL iBT Home Edition in Switzerland
ETS's country list says the TOEFL iBT Home Edition is available in every listed location, Switzerland included. It is the same test, taken at home and watched by a human proctor, bookable 24 hours a day, 4 days a week, at least 24 hours ahead (testing options). ETS's fee page gives one registration fee per location and no separate Home Edition price, so confirm the amount on the payment page. Check your room and computer against the at-home requirements first: if you have not checked in within 30 minutes of your start time, the test is cancelled with no refund.
Paying, booking and test centres in Switzerland
In your ETS account you can pay by card, PayPal or Alipay, in US dollars (fee page); ETS's e-checks only work on US and Canadian banks, and a declined payment costs US$30 (Bulletin, page 4). The Bulletin says the fee depends on where you plan to take the test, so a test centre in a neighbouring country is charged at that country's fee. ETS's German (de.ets.org) and French (fr.ets.org) sites list the same service fees in US dollars.
ETS says nearly every location on its country list has TOEFL iBT test centres, and that the test runs more than 170 times a year. Its centre and date search only opens once you sign in to an ETS account from the schedule page, so we have not listed cities in Switzerland; sign in to see the centres and seats near you before choosing between a centre and the Home Edition.
Scores on the 1–6 scale
Since 21 January 2026, TOEFL iBT reports each section and the overall score on a 1–6 scale in half-point steps, aligned with CEFR levels; the overall is the average of the four sections rounded to the nearest half band (ETS). See how the 1–6 scale works and convert a target with the TOEFL to IELTS converter. The Bulletin notes that only tests taken before 21 January 2026, and TOEFL iBT Australia, are currently approved for Australian visas. Compare costs with the IELTS fee in Switzerland and the PTE fee in Switzerland.
