The cheaper UKVI test, and what else differs
The two providers are within CHF 5 of each other for the standard test, but IDP's IELTS for UKVI is CHF 19 cheaper and its Life Skills CHF 12 cheaper. IDP's partner runs UKVI sessions in Gümligen near Bern and in St. Gallen; the British Council's UKVI centre is in Bern.
Swiss Exams quotes results in 3 to 5 days and IDP in 1 to 5 days; both offer One Skill Retake after a computer test (One Skill Retake). Swiss Exams also sells IELTS Online for IELTS Academic at home; the British Council says it is not accepted by immigration authorities (British Council Switzerland).

Cancellation, transfer and refund rules in Switzerland
Swiss Exams links to the British Council's global IELTS terms, and IDP's Swiss reschedule and cancel page uses the same standard rules: cancel 15 or more days before the test and 75% is refunded, within 14 days nothing. Transfers are free 15 or more days ahead and cost up to 25% within 5 to 14 days. UKVI and Life Skills follow the British Council's UKVI policy. IDP asks for a credit card to pay (IDP Switzerland).
