Exam fees and test centres by country

How much does the TOEFL cost in each country in 2026?

ETS sets a separate TOEFL iBT fee for each of its 212 locations, all in US dollars. On 14 October 2026 they ran from US$164 in India to US$475 in Switzerland, with a median of US$255. Every country pays the same extras: US$69 to reschedule, US$49 for a late booking and US$29 per additional score report. Cancelling four days ahead refunds 50%.

Fees are copied from ETS's fees-by-location page. Where the Bulletin says tax is added at checkout, the "Tax" column says so; for EU countries ETS's fee page and Bulletin disagree on whether VAT is included, so check the total before paying.

Cheapest and most expensive countries

The lowest fees on ETS's list are India (US$164), Nigeria and Ukraine (US$170), then Egypt and Kazakhstan (US$180). The highest are Switzerland (US$475), Israel (US$425), Finland (US$377) and Denmark, Norway and Sweden (US$375). ETS's Bulletin says the fee is set by the location where you plan to take the test.

Extra fees that apply everywhere

The fee includes your scores in your ETS account about 3 days after the test, a PDF score report, MyBest scores and up to 4 official score reports to institutions you choose before 10 p.m. (local test-centre time) the day before the test (Bulletin, page 11). Each extra report costs US$29 on ETS's fee table; its score-sending page still says US$25, so expect the fee table's figure. A Speaking or Writing review must be requested within 30 days and not after you have sent scores anywhere.

Reschedule, cancellation and refund rules

ETS's rules are the same in every country covered here (Bulletin, pages 4–5). Reschedule or cancel through your ETS account at least 4 full days before the test: for a Saturday test, by Tuesday. Cancelling in time returns 50% of the fee you paid, to the original payment method; after that deadline nothing is refunded. Requests by post, email or at the test centre are not accepted. You can take the test as often as you like, but not more than once in any 3 days.

Home Edition and the 1–6 score scale

ETS says the Home Edition is available in every location on its country list, 24 hours a day, 4 days a week, booked at least 24 hours ahead; its fee page shows one price per location and no separate Home Edition fee. Since 21 January 2026 scores are reported on a 1–6 scale (how it works); use the TOEFL to IELTS converter to compare targets, and see TOEFL score validity.
