How Birmingham handles English test scores
English tests normally need to have been taken within two years of your programme start date. Birmingham accepts only your most recent English test score to meet its requirements.
For comparison, the same page sets IELTS 5.5 with at least 5.5 in each band where it asks for Duolingo 105 in all skills, and IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each band where it asks for 115.

If you want direct entry with Duolingo
The page lists TOEFL iBT, IELTS, PTE, Cambridge English, LanguageCert, Trinity ISE and Oxford ELLT for 2027 entry, so a Duolingo result alone points you to the foundation year route. If you prefer direct entry, plan for one of the listed tests.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Birmingham programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
