Birmingham TOEFL minimums by group
From Birmingham's undergraduate international entry requirements page and its postgraduate taught page. Both give one figure for tests taken before January 2026 and one for tests taken from January 2026. Find your course's group on the undergraduate page; some postgraduate programmes set higher or lower grades.

Birmingham TOEFL test rules
Both pages list TOEFL iBT or iBT Home Edition among the accepted tests. The undergraduate page says tests normally need to have been taken within two years of the start date of your programme, and the postgraduate page says Birmingham can only accept your most recent English test score.
The pages do not mention TOEFL MyBest scores or give an ETS institution code.
For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS at 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band for Group A and 7.0 with no less than 7.0 in any band for Group D.

If your TOEFL score is below Birmingham's level
The Bachelor's Degree with Integrated Foundation Year accepts TOEFL at 72 overall (18 listening, 18 reading, 20 speaking, 17 writing) or 4 with 4 in each skill, rising to 80 or 4.5 for students heading to Law or English Literature. The one-year foundation pathways at the Birmingham International Academy do not accept TOEFL.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Birmingham programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
