What TOEFL score do you need for the University of Central Missouri?

Both pages say UCM accepts home-based TOEFL and IELTS tests. UCM also runs its own English Proficiency Test, covering reading, writing, listening and speaking, which can be used for initial admission.

TOEFL iBT score reports from January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score; our guide to the new TOEFL score scale explains how the two scales appear on a report.

For comparison, the undergraduate page asks for IELTS Academic 5.5 and the graduate page asks for IELTS Academic 6.0.

The graduate page says that if you do not meet the minimum, your application is updated to show an English requirement and you start with the English Language Institute when you arrive at UCM. You can also ask about the UCM English Proficiency Test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UCM programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
