How Detroit Mercy handles TOEFL scores
The page says proof of English is not required for most programmes, but students are expected to have basic English communication skills. Those whose native language is not English, and who have not completed a degree at an approved US school, take an ESL test on arrival. Nursing is the exception: a TOEFL score from ETS must be on file first.

If your TOEFL score is below Detroit Mercy's level
Students who are not yet proficient on the campus ESL test must enrol in the American Language and Culture Program, Detroit Mercy's academic English preparation programme. They may need to defer the start of classes for a semester or more.
