What TOEFL score do you need for the University of Göttingen?

The Biology master's page lists the TOEFL iBT Home Edition and TOEFL ITP among proofs that are not accepted, and says the test must have been passed no more than six years before your application is received. The Crop Protection page says certificates should be no more than three years old at the time of application.

For comparison, the same pages ask IELTS Academic band 6 for Crop Protection and 7 for Modern Indian Studies and the Biology master's.

The Biology master's page also accepts at least two years of relevant study or work in an English-speaking country within the last six years, or a degree of at least two years taught in English.

TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. Where the page gives only a 0 to 120 figure, that is what this guide reports.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Göttingen programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
