What TOEFL score do you need for the University of Hawaii at Manoa?

The Graduate Division accepts the TOEFL iBT including the Home Edition, and TOEFL Essentials. It accepts superscores built from several test sittings, such as TOEFL MyBest, and admitted students who used one must submit the MyBest report. Unofficial scores can be used to apply, but official scores are needed to enrol. Graduate scores cannot be more than two years old, and the ETS code is 4867.

Graduate teaching assistantship applicants need an overall 5 with Listening 5 and Speaking 5 on the new test, or 100 with Listening 25 and Speaking 25 on the old test.

For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS Academic at 5.5 for admission through ELI and 7.0 for ELI exemption; the graduate minimum is 5.5.

Undergraduates between the two levels are admitted through the ELI and take its courses. Graduate applicants are exempt from testing if they are native English speakers or hold a bachelor's or higher degree, earned within the last five years, from a recognised university in one of the listed exempt countries.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UH Mānoa programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
