University English requirements

What Duolingo score do you need for the University of Hohenheim?

The University of Hohenheim sets English requirements per master's programme. The Master's in Bioeconomy and the Master's in Environmental Science - Soil, Water and Biodiversity both accept the Duolingo English Test with at least 125 points. How Hohenheim handles Duolingo scores

Both programmes give one overall Duolingo figure of 125 and no subscore minimums. The pages do not state a validity period or a sending method for Duolingo results; documents are uploaded through the HohCampus application portal. The Bioeconomy page says your Abitur or secondary school leaving certificate is not enough to prove English.

For comparison, the Bioeconomy page asks for IELTS at least 6.5 in all sub-disciplines, while the Environmental Science page asks for IELTS Academic 6.5 overall band.

If your Duolingo score is below 125

The Bioeconomy page also accepts TOEFL iBT 90, UNIcert II with at least the grade "good", the Cambridge CAE, or an English-language bachelor's degree from an EU member state or a listed country. The Environmental Science page also accepts TOEFL and IELTS, or, for holders of a German university entrance qualification, at least four semesters of upper-level English with an average of at least 8 points. Neither page names a pre-sessional or conditional route. If you are unsure, the Bioeconomy page suggests contacting the academic programme adviser before applying.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Hohenheim programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
