How Kentucky handles TOEFL scores

Undergraduate scores must come directly from the testing centre. Graduate applicants can self-report in the application, but official scores should be sent directly by the testing agency to institution code 1837 with program code 99.

For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS at 6.0, and the Graduate School page at 6.5 overall.

If your TOEFL score is below Kentucky's level

Undergraduates who have completed English 101 and 102 (or equivalent) at a US college or university may qualify for a TOEFL waiver, and applicants from listed countries are exempt from testing. The pages do not describe a conditional admission route for a low TOEFL score.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your University of Kentucky programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
